Computer Nitrox Training

This course is offered through Scuba Diving International, SDI.   No diving required with this course, and only a few hours of academic time, 3 to 5 hours usually. All materials included with the purchase price.  Click Here for Info.

Prerequisites for taking the Computer Nitrox course include:

  • You own your own nitrox computer
  • Open Water certified
  • 15 years of age or older.

Nitrox (oxygen enriched air) is any mixture of oxygen and nitrogen, however the most common mixtures are Nitrox 32 and 36.   The 32 stands for 32% oxygen and 68% nitrogen; the 36 for 36% oxygen and 64% nitrogen.   Using Nitrox can lengthen allowable bottom times, yet it limits maximum depth. It's been around for almost 20 years, but only in the recreational arena for the past 10 years.  At this time, the use of Nitrox preventing DCS has yet to be proven, but it certainly reduces the amount of nitrogen in your body.

The cost for a Nitrox filled tank is more than air, and your equipment (regulator and tank)  needs to be 'cleaned' to insure safety when mixing oxygen.

*Note, If you do not own a nitrox computer and/or want to take nitrox with tables (covers computers too), we offer a course from PADI or TDI.   Both require 2 dives using nitrox.  Click Here for Info.
