The Snicker Rules

![]()
| During the open water course we have a few 'rules' that new divers should adhere to. If caught in a violation of these rules, it is expected for the student to buy the instructor a snickers bar. On average, most students don't have to buy even one, but on occasion the instructor gets lucky. This is all done in good humor in a means to try and discourage the new diver from developing bad habits. You don't have to 'pay up', but you can... We want our new divers to look and act like pros! | |
Rule 1: Don't wear mask on forehead Rule 2: Don't leave scuba tank standing up and walk away Rule 3: Don't take off your mask until the instructor does after surfacing Rule 4: Don't use hands (sculling) to swim while diving (the job of fins) after 2nd open water dive Rule 5 Leaves the dust cap off regulator at the end of the day Rule 6 Don't get sand or dirt on the gear (especially the regulator) Rule 7 If more diving is to be done that day, taking a break before gear is setup, rigged and checked for next dive Update 4 February 2005 ! Due to cavities and the weight gained by too many snickers, we are amending this rule. Instead of snickers, a Coffee Lattee (or Starbucks charge card) can be substituted... this change would be appreciated.... |
